In Japan last week a female humanoid, robot, jazz vocalist serenaded onlookers near Tokyo Station. It was part of a program of events organized by Tokyo University of the Arts.Ā

Placed at the centre of the band it looked, from distance, like a regular jazz quartet. Upon closer inspection the female singer proved to be an emotionless machine, realistically mouthing and swivelling eyes to a recorded voice track.Ā

Real life musicians helped the the humanoid sing ā€œFly Me to the Moon,ā€ ā€œBody and Soul,ā€ and other classics.
