Jazz, Soul and Blues winners at the Grammys

The 68th Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles with a good haul for jazz, soul and blues artists including singer Samara Joy who won Best Jazz Vocal Album for ‘Portrait’ and Laufey who won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for ‘A Matter of Time’. Pianist Sullivan Fortner won Best Jazz Instrumental Album while Jon Batiste won Best Americana Album for ‘Big Money’ and Leon Thomas took home Best Traditional R&B Album and Performance.

Christian McBride notched up his 10th and 11th trophies including one for his posthumous release playing with Chick Corea, and the great Joni Mitchell was honoured for her archive release last year and spoke at the ceremony. In the main show UK soul star Olivia Dean was named best new artist.
