May is the centenary of Miles Davis’s birth, and as part of our celebrations at Jazz FM, we’ve teamed up with Sony Music to give away four bundles of Miles Davis vinyl. The prize bundle features:
MILES IN FRANCE – this is volume 8 of the phenomenal Bootleg Series which features Miles in the early 1960’s
THAT’S WHAT HAPPENED – the previous release from the Bootleg Series (Vol 7) that features Miles’ recordings between 1982 and 1985
Plus, two classic albums that belong in any Miles Davis collection, again on vinyl…
KIND OF BLUE – the album that put Miles on the map, regarded as his masterpiece, from 1959 and features John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderly, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb and Wynton Kelly. Presented on limited edition blue vinyl from the 2018 re-release
BITCHES BREW – originally released in 1970 (re-release version from 2015), this album marked Davis's continuing experimentation with electric instruments and features Dave Holland, Chick Corea, Jack DeJohnette and Herbie Hancock.
Finally, there’s the eight CD boxset MILES DAVIS – THE COMPLETE LIVE AT THE PLUGGED NICKEL 1965 for one of the album bundle winners!
With over seven hours of music, The Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel 1965 is a cornerstone moment in Sony Music’s year-long celebration of the Miles Davis Centennial. The recordings capture Miles Davis’s Second Great Quintet which features Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams.
