John Newman continues to tease comeback song 'Merry Go'

John Newman is returning to music with a huge song called 'Merry Go'. The new song, due out later this week, is the first new music from John following his 2026 reworking of his breakout hit 'Love Me Again'.
Just over a decade ago, John was known for his huge hits including 'Love Me Again', 'Feel The Love' with Rudimental and 'Blame' with Calvin Harris, but after taking a break from releasing music, the singer reinvented himself as a DJ, performing at world class festivals such as Tomorrowland, Creamfields Chile and Electric Love Festival.
Now, John Newman is back for a new phase of his career with 'Merry Go', a song with an uplifting melody and vibrant, feel-good sound. In the clips he's shared so far, fans can hear a sound reminiscent of his hit 'Love Me Again', coupled with driving dance beat.
What inspired the song 'Merry Go'?
Speaking about the song, John said: "Being out in Europe and around the world again made me realise how much I’d missed that raw and deeper feeling you only get when you’re reconnecting with audiences and rebuilding yourself creatively. This track really came from that moment of rediscovery.
"At the same time, I became a father to my incredible daughter — and you can actually hear her right at the very start of the track. It’s just a tiny moment, but it means a lot to me and felt like a special way to have her be part of this new chapter. The song has a fun, uplifting energy, and I hope people enjoy it throughout the summer and the rest of the year. It feels amazing to be back."
When will it be released?
It will be released on 1st May 2026.
Who was it written by?
Along with John Newman, the song was written by Joe Kearns, and Hannah Boleyn. It was produced by John alongside Kearns and Robin Klaver.
What album does it feature on?
At present John has not announced what album it will be on, however an album is "in the pipeline".
