Ten healthcare workers arrested in Northampton over serious allegations

Ten staff members at a mental health hospital in Northampton have been arrested on a number of charges - including suspicion of rape and wilful neglect.

Investigations are under way into alleged incidents at St Andrew's - which provides private support for hundreds of patients.

Eight people were arrested on suspicion of wilful neglect and ill treatment by a care worker, one person is under investigation in relation to the death of a man in February 2025, and a woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault and ill treatment

In a statement, Northamptonshire Police said: "This complex investigation is on-going, with all eight people arrested remaining on bail."

A spokesperson for St Andrew's Healthcare said that they had reported the cases to police.

"As a charity, we are committed to full transparency, and take a zero-tolerance approach to any allegation of harm or poor practice," they said.

"We immediately reported these cases to the police for investigation."
