Murder investigation begins after fatal stabbing in Coventry

A murder investigation is underway after an 18-year-old man suffered a fatal stab wound in Coventry.

The incident occurred outside Foleshill Library on Broad Street at around 9.40pm last night (22/2).

The victim was found with serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he later died.

A spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time."

Another man, aged 19, was discovered outside Dixy Chicken on Foleshill Road with slash wounds to his hand and arm.

He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV and conducting investigations in the area.

The spokesperson added: "We understand how deeply distressing and concerning this incident is and we will have extra officers in the area over the coming days to offer reassurance to the community."

Witnesses or anyone with information, including mobile phone or dashcam footage, are urged to contact the police on 101, quoting log number 4185 of 22nd February.

A post from Foleshill Library, within the police cordon zone, stated: "Foleshill Library closed today.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, Foleshill Library will be closed on Monday 23 February 2026.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. All other Coventry Libraries are open as normal."

West Midlands Ambulance Service told us: “We were called shortly before 10pm on Sunday to reports of a stabbing on Broad Street in Coventry.

"Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Critical Care Car attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found a man with life threatening injuries in a critical condition. Ambulance staff administered advanced life support and advanced trauma care to him at the scene which continued en route to hospital where he was conveyed for further treatment.
