Murder investigation launched as 16 year old stabbed in Peterborough

Four people have been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Peterborough.
Emergency services were called at around 7pm on Sunday (12 April) to reports a teenager had been attacked in Riseholme near the Orton Centre.
Cambridgeshire Police say they boy was taken to hospital but he died later in the evening.
Detectives are treating the boy’s death as murder and two people from Peterborough – a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man – are under arrest on suspicion of murder,
A 17-year-old girl from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and a 16-year-old girl from March has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of a bladed article.
All are in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.
A police cordon has been set up around the scene at the Orton Centre and there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
DCI Richard Stott, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit, said: “This is tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a young man, and we are in contact with his family and keeping them updated.
“While we understand the death will be concerning for local people, we do not believe this was a random attack and there will be a significant police presence in the area over coming days.
“I would urge anyone who believes they have information about this attack, or lives in the area and has CCTV at their home, to contact police.”
