A tourist attraction in Newcastle city centre has closed for the day, after a man was found dead nearby.
Emergency services were called to reports of a suspected burglary in Blanford Square at 7.15am this morning (Sunday 12th April 2026).
A Northumbria Police spokesperson has confirmed a man was sadly pronounced dead at this scene.
His family have been informed are being supported by specialist officers.
The man's death is not being treated as suspicious - and a report has been made for the coroner.
The Discovery Museum, which is in the area, has confirmed it is closed today.
An emergency services presence which had been in place at the scene has been reduced.
