Thanks to the success of BBC drama The Split, fans had high hopes for spin-off series The Split Up, which first hit our screens back in September this year.

The series follows the Kishan family who run Kishan Law in Manchester, a British-Asian high-net worth family law firm, known for their clientele and reputation.

Will there be a second series of The Split Up?

Following the success of the six-part series, BBC bosses have now commissioned the show for a second!

Creator Ursula Rani Sarma says: “I’m absolutely delighted with the response to The Split Up. It means so much to see audiences embrace a family whose story reflects the diversity of our world. I’m thrilled to be bringing the Kishan family back for a second series, and my heartfelt thanks go to the BBC, Abi Morgan, Jane Featherstone and my incredible team, as well as everyone who tuned in and supported us. We can’t wait to show you what happens next!”

Abi Morgan, who was the brains behind original series The Split, added: “I am delighted that The Split Up has found its audience and home at the BBC and look forward to what is next for Kishan Law under Ursula Rani Sarma and her brilliant creative team.”

When is series two out?

There's no word on when series two will land just yet, but we suspect it could be in late 2027, with production due to begin soon.

Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, says: “We’re thrilled that The Split Up will return for a second series. Viewers have taken the Kishan family straight to their hearts and we’d like to thank Ursula Rani Sarma, Abi Morgan and the whole creative team for building a series packed full of warmth, wit, emotional truth and humanity. It’s a pleasure to continue our creative partnership with SISTER Pictures and Little Chick, and we look forward to seeing what lies ahead.”

What will happen in series two?

The BBC are yet to announce the plot for series two.

Who will be in the cast?

It looks like the cast from series one will return for the second instalment, meaning the likes of Ritu Arya, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Aysha Kala, Arian Nik, Danny Ashok, Dimitri Leonidas, Mawaan Rizwan, Sindhu Vee, Shalini Peiris and Tom Forbes could all feature.

The first series also welcomed a host of standout guest stars, including Lenny Henry, Jane Horrocks, and Jameela Jamil, although it's not confirmed if they'll feature in the second series.

How can I watch the first series?

The Split Up, three series of The Split and the accompanying two-part Barcelona special are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
