A woman has died and another three people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the Isle of Sheppey involving a car driving on the wrong side of the road.

Reports of two cars colliding were received by the emergency services on the A249 between Eye-wade and Minster at around 11.20 last night.

One was said to be heading southbound on the northbound carriageway.

The road was closed for around eight hours as police began their investigation.

Kent police stated:

"Officers from Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are carrying out enquiries and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the vehicles immediately before the collision.

They are also appealing for anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward."
