Police searching for man who escaped Warrington prison

43-year-old serving a lengthy sentence for attempted murder

A search is underway for a 43-year-old man who absconded from HMP Thorn Cross in Warrington on the evening of 6th January 2026.

Kieran Cameron was reported missing from the Cheshire prison at 9.20pm. He is currently serving a 23-year sentence for an attempted murder carried out in Dorset in 2016.

Cameron is described as white, approximately 5’ 6” tall and medium build.

Police have said he has known connections in Manchester, Liverpool, and Dorset.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Henderson, from Cheshire Police’s Serious and Organised Crime Unit, said:

“We are appealing for the help of the public to trace Kieran Cameron, who is unlawfully at large after leaving HMP Thorn Cross in Warrington."

"If you see him, do not approach him, call 999 immediately."

Cameron remains at large, and police are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to get in touch.
