Detectives are stepping up their investigations to find more potential victims of funeral plan fraud and mishandled cremated remains in Dumbarton and Glasgow.

They've arrested two women and a man in connection with complaints about the practices of the former A Milne Independent Funeral Directors last year.

Operation Koine was then established and search warrants were executed in the Bishopbriggs and Springburn areas in May 2024.

Detective Superintendent Robert Bowie said: "This business had been running since 2016 and around 70 people have come forward so far.

"There is a distinct possibility there are many more people out there and they've just not had the confidence to come forward."

The three people who've been arrested have been released without charge and DSI Bowie doesn't want to give any time scales for when the investigation might conclude.

Two former premises operated by A Milne in Dumbarton and Glasgow remain closed off since it stopped trading.

The old A Milne premises on High Street in Dumbarton remains closed.

Detective Superintendent Bowie added: “I’m appealing to anyone with concerns regarding the handling of cremated remains or pre-paid funeral plans with this former funeral directors to come forward.

“Enquiries so far suggest this may involve a larger number of people than have already reached out to police."
