Two boys arrested over hay bales fire at Teesside farm
Around 200 hay bales were found alight on land between Saltburn and Marske yesterday morning
An 11-year-old boy and 12-year-old boy have been arrested and bailed in connection with a fire at a farm in Teesside.
Around 200 hay bales were found alight on land between Saltburn and Marske yesterday morning.
Cleveland Police believe the fire's caused ten thousand pounds worth of damage, including to a sheep feeder.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said:
"Two children were arrested yesterday as emergency services responded to multiple calls from the public about there being around 200 hay bales on fire.
"Our Fire Brigade colleagues attended the scene near Quarry Lane between Saltburn and Marske at around 11am, while officers carried out multiple area searches with the help of information which was coming in from the public.
"The boys, 11 and 12, were subsequently arrested in woodland in the Hazelgrove area of Saltburn and were questioned on suspicion of arson before being bailed pending further enquiries.
"It is believed there was approximately £10,000 of damage the bales and a sheep feeder was also affected by the blaze - meaning a huge cost as well as great inconvenience to the farmer."
