Teenage boy recovered from Leicestershire lake after search

Police confirm the identity and support given to the family

A teenager has been recovered from Meynell Lake in Syston following a search by specialist police dive teams.

Police began their search yesterday afternoon after receiving reports that the boy had entered the lake.

Authorities confirmed the recovered individual is the teenager who was known to have entered the water, and his family is being supported by specialist officers.

Emergency services were alerted just after 1.30pm, prompting responses from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service, along with police officers.

Initial searches were conducted by emergency teams before police divers joined the effort.

Currently, Police said there is no suggestion of any suspicious circumstances, and a file is being prepared for HM Coroner.

Decisions regarding naming the teenager will be up to the coroner.
