Stafford teenager charged with terrorism offences

17-year-old to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court

A 17-year-old boy from Stafford has been charged with terrorism offences following an investigation by Staffordshire Police.

The teenager faces charges of possession of explosive substances under section 4(1) of the Explosive Substances Act 1883.

He's also been charged with two counts of viewing or accessing information online likely to be useful to someone committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to section 58(1)(c) of the Terrorism Act 2000.

No further details have been released at this stage.

He remains in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (27th November).
