An elderly couple killed in a suspected arson attack in St Helens have been pictured for the first time.

Peter Eric Greener, aged 77, and his partner Sheila Jackson, aged 83, were both rushed to hospital after being pulled from the flames on Tuesday night (15th June).

Peter died on Wednesday, and Sheila the following day, after more than 30 years together.

Police are treating their deaths as murder and have issued a direct plea to people living in the South John Street area for information.

Searches are ongoing for the person or persons responsible, while an investigation into the cause of the fire is still underway.
