Rescue operation launched after man falls down well in Cheadle

A rescue operation has been launched after a man fell down a well in Cheadle.

Emergency services were called to the High Street in the Staffordshire town at around 8.37am this morning (Sunday 1st February 2026).

It's expected crews will remain there for some time.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:

"We have crews on High Street Cheadle dealing with an incident.

"There are a number of appliances in attendance, and High Street is closed to allow a safe operation to take place. Please avoid the area."

The man's injuries aren't known.
