Two prison officers in hospital after being attacked with boiling water in Cambridgeshire

An investigation is underway after two prison officers were attacked with boiling water at HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire.

Cambridgeshire Police say the force received a report about an assault on two officers, involving boiling water at the site near March on the 28th May at around 11:30am.

A police spokesperson said: "One of the officers was taken to hospital with serious injuries while the other suffered minor injuries."

“The assaults are being treated as grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm and an investigation is on-going.”

A Prison Service spokesperson said:

“Police are investigating two unacceptable attacks on members of staff at HMP Whitemoor.

“We will not tolerate assaults on hardworking prison officers and will always push for the strongest punishments against perpetrators."
