Plane crash lands in Somerset

A plane has crash landed at an airfield in Somerset, injuring two people.

It happened Middlezoy Aerodrome in Bridgwater at 1.42pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene.

A two seater aircraft flipped over on landing.

Two appliances from Bridgwater Fire Station were dispatched.

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Fire Service said: "On arrival, both occupants were free and clear, one was treated at the scene and the other taken to hospital by ambulance. "

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: "Officers were made aware of a report of a private aircraft which has crashed while landing at Westonzoyland Airfield, in Westonzoyland, this afternoon.

"Four people were onboard, two of whom have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing and officers will support the Air Accidents Investigation Branch with their investigation."
