Murder investigation underway into death of woman in south east London

A murder investigation is underway into the death of a woman in south east London.

A 43 year old was found dead at a flat in Argyll Road, Woolwich at around 5.25pm on Friday (17th January 2025), following reports of concerns for welfare.

The Met Police believe a suspect they're looking for knew the victim. They have yet to make any arrests so far.

A post mortem held on Saturday, 18 January gave cause of death as blunt force trauma and head injury.

The victim's next of kin have been informed, but formal identification has yet to take place.

DCI Suzanne Soren from the Met Police's Specialist Crime South division said:

“This is a deeply tragic incident and are thoughts are very much with the victim’s family who are being supported by specialist officers.

“At this early stage we believe the suspect was known to the victim and we are carrying out urgent enquiries to trace a named individual.”
