Murder investigation launched in Dungannon as man found dead and child rushed to hospital

A murder investigation is underway as a man was found dead alongside a seriously injured child in Co. Tyrone this morning

The PSNI have launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead alongside a seriously injured child in the Lisnahull area of Dungannon this morning.

A male who has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder remains in police custody.

Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, a child has been taken by ambulance to Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a call at 11:08 on Saturday the 29th of August following reports of an incident in the Lisnahull area of Dungannon.

NI Ambulance Service dispatched 1 Advanced Care Paramedic, 3 Emergency Crews, 1 HART crew and 2 Ambulance Officers to the scene. Ambulance control also dispatched the HEMS crew to respond in Rapid Response vehicle.

A terraced house in the estate has been sealed off, with a number of officers and police cars in the area.

Police have urged members of the public to avoid the area.
