Man murdered on New Year's Eve named

A man has been charged with murder following a stabbing in Greater Manchester just minute's before the clock struck midnight on New Year's Eve.

Emergency services were called to Tarn Drive in Bury at around 23:55GMT on Wednesday 31 December.

23-year-old, Joe Burton, was found with stab wounds and died at the scene.

Anthony Junior Murray, 25, has now been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

A woman who was arrested at the scene has been bailed pending further enquiries and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police have appealed to speak to any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the time of the incident.
