Man charged with murder following Shadwell stabbing

One man was killed, while another was treated for stab injuries

A man has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Shadwell.

39-year-old Hassan Lbane was arrested on 10 April on suspicion of murder, following reports of an assault on Watney Street in Shadwell.

Emergency services found two men suffering from knife wounds.

A man in his late 20s or early 30s died in hospital due to life-threatening injuries.

The second man was discharged from hospital after being treated for a knife wound.

Lbane, from Tower Hamlets, was charged with murder and grievous bodily harm on Saturday, 11 April.

He has been remanded in custody until his appearance at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday (13 April).

Detectives are continuing enquiries to formally identify the victim and notify his next of kin.
