A 35-year-old man has been charged in relation to the death of a nine-year-old girl in Arbroath.

The child was discovered seriously injured just after midnight at the Elliot industrial estate in the Angus town and transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she passed away.

Police have labeled the death as suspicious, and the man, described as white British, is scheduled to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Authorities have confirmed they are not seeking anyone else in connection to her death.

Detective Inspector Mike Ness of Police Scotland's major investigation team stated that a police presence will continue in the area as inquiries proceed.
