Man arrested as police investigate unexpected death of woman in St Helens

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the unexpected death of a woman in St Helens this morning

A woman in her 30s was sadly pronounced deceased at a premises in Brook Cottage Close just before 3am.

A 63-year-old man at the scene was arrested and has been taken to a police station for questioning by detectives.

Merseyside police stated:

"Work is ongoing to establish the circumstances and to formally identify the woman. The incident is initially being treated as unexpected while these enquiries are carried out."
