A man's been handed a seven year sentence for manslaughter after killing a dad-of-two with one punch outside of a Chichester pub.

57-year-old David Hallatt had "no chance to defend himself" when 30-year-old Kieran Egan hit him with "extreme force" outside the Dolphin and Anchor.

A fight broke out while the tiler, from South Yorkshire, had been out for drinks with work colleagues and he'd been an "innocent bystander" as Egan, from Baldmoor Lake Road, Birmingham, delivered the fatal blow.

Despite receiving CPR from emergency services, Hallatt died at the scene.

Egan will now spend two thirds of his sentence in custody, with the rest on licence.

Paying tribute to him after the attack, his family said he was "forever in our broken hearts":

"David was so violently taken from us. He was married for 25 years with two young daughters, aged 20 and 22.

"He lived for his family, and he loved his work as a tiler travelling the country. He played the electric guitar, and was an avid football and rock music fan."
