Man, 24, dies after being hit by vehicle on M61

A 24-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle on the M61 near Bolton.

At around 2:25am on Friday 3 April, police were called to between junctions 3 and 4 of the motorway. Other emergency services also attended.

The man - aged 24 - died at the scene, Greater Manchester Police said in a statement.

An investigation has been launched to understand exactly what happened.

The driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made, the force added.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with any information - including those who may have witnessed the collision - to get in touch. This includes anyone with dashcam footage.
