Watford Police say two lanes of the M1 has reopened northbound, following the discovery of a man's body in undergrowth.

Officers closed the motorway after being called to between junctions 5 and 6, where the body was found.

The man's death is currently being treated as unexplained, with officers remaining on the scene today whilst enquiries continue to work out what happened to him.

The force have thanked the public for their patience. It comes as the motorway was closed in both directions yesterday afternoon, just before 4pm.

The southbound carriageway reopened just after 6:30pm, with Police posting on Facebook just before midnight to say two lanes northbound had also now reopened.
