Hull KR has managed to beat their 40-year trophyless streak by winning the Challenge Cup, with a 8-6 victory against Warrington Wolves.

Warrington managed to strike first, with a try just before half-time. Marc Sneyd’s kick ricocheted off a defender near the posts and fell perfectly into the hands of Matty Thewlis, who made no mistake in finishing the move.

But it was a try from Tom Davies that took The Robins to the top.

Hull Kingston Rovers have been the standout team in Super League so far this season. With a level of consistency and intensity that has impressed fans. The Robins were mounting a serious challenge for silverware – a prize that has eluded them for four decades.

Memories of past heartbreaks – such as their defeat to Leigh in the 2023 Challenge Cup final – still linger, but they now serve as fuel to their win.

Meanwhile, Warrington Wolves know the pain of coming up short as well, having fallen to Wigan in the final last season.
