Man pleads guilty to manslaughter after death of three-month-old son

A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and battery after his three-month-old son died from a head injury.

38-year-old Gareth Stark, from Stafford, pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court today (12th January).

The court heard how Stark's baby, Leon Stark, was hospitalised in 2023 after becoming unwell.

He died eight days later on 20th October.

Investigations found that Leon had a significant head injury caused by his father.

Stark is due to be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court at a later date.
