Four people killed in Bootle house fire

Four people have been killed in a house fire in Bootle, Merseyside Fire and Rescue have confirmed.

Fire crews were called out to Stone Square at around 03:30am this morning (Tuesday 22nd September).

The semi-detached house was described by the service as "well-alight", with four people discovered dead in an upstairs bedroom.

A fifth person has been taken to hospital with burn injuries.

MFRS Area Manager Kevin Longshaw said: "This is a devastating incident, and our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of those who have lost their lives and been injured.

"We will work closely with relevant colleagues to ascertain the cause of the fire, but in the immediate term, we again extend our sincere condolences to those affected by this tragic incident."
