A major fire has ripped through a derelict mill in Radcliffe, causing significant damage.

Firefighters were called to Pioneer Mill at around 7.50pm last night (Saturday 27th September 2025).

There are no reports of injuries, but the building appears to have been badly impacted.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Nine fire engines from across Greater Manchester were called to attend a derelict mill fire on Milltown Street, Radcliffe.

“Crews arrived quickly and have used various specialist equipment and appliances, including a turntable ladder, high volume pump and drone, to extinguish the fire.

“Firefighters remain in attendance at this time.”

People have been posting on social media in reaction to news of the fire.

Local councillor Ken Simpson is among those helping respond to the incident.
