Woman arrested over neglect allegation after death of baby boy in Birmingham

Police investigating the death of a baby boy have arrested a 37-year-old woman on suspicion of child neglect.

West Midlands Police said the woman remains in custody after officers were called to "reports of a baby having a medical emergency" at an address in Culford Drive, Bartley Green, Birmingham, at around 4.30pm on Wednesday,

The force said: "The baby was taken to hospital, where he sadly died.

"A 37-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect, and she remains in custody for questioning.

"We understand the concerns of the community over this incident, but we would ask the public not to speculate on the circumstances."
