Candidates for Gorton and Denton by-election announced

Political parties have announced their candidates for next month's Gorton and Denton by-election.

The vote, which will take place on Thursday 26th February 2026, was prompted by the resignation of former MP Andrew Gwynne, who stood down citing health reasons.

The full list of candidates announced is as follows:

• Charlotte Cadden (Conservative Party)

• Matt Goodwin (Reform UK)

• Sebastian Moore (Social Democratic Party)

• Joseph O'Meachair (Rejoin EU Party)

• Jackie Pearcey (Liberal Democrats)

• Hannah Spencer (Green Party)

• Angeliki Stogia (Labour Party)

The winner is expected to be announced early on Friday 27th February.
