An investigation is looking into why a British Airways plane lost a tyre shortly after taking off.

Officials say the flight from Las Vegas continued to London and landed safely, without incident.

The rear wheel separated from what is believed to be a London-bound Airbus A350-1000 as it left Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, at around 9.10pm local time on Monday 26th January 2026.

Reports suggest that as the aircraft climbed, a shadowy wheel dropped from the back section of the landing gear.

Flight radar data shows the plane continued its journey across the Atlantic and landed in London 27 minutes earlier than planned.

A spokesperson for Harry Reid International Airport said officials were aware of an incident, the plane involved landed safely in London and a tyre was retrieved from the airfield.

There are no reports of injuries or damage.

A British Airways spokesperson said:

"Safety and security underpins everything we do and we're supporting the authorities with their investigations."
