Three arrested following threats made to Cardiff schools

South Wales Police have arrested three people in connection with a series of alleged bomb threats made towards secondary schools in Cardiff.

The threats occurred between March 15 and March 18 sparking concern among parents and school communities.

The suspects include a 44-year-old woman, a 47-year-old man, and a 12-year-old boy from Birmingham. All three have been arrested on suspicion of making a bomb hoax. They are currently in police custody while investigations continue.

Assistant Chief Constable Thomas Williams said: “We understand the considerable concern this incident has caused parents and the community. We take these reports extremely seriously and investigations are ongoing. I would also like to reassure families that there remains no evidence of any persons attending any of the schools involved posing a threat. We continue working closely with our partners and thank the schools, parents and the wider community for their support and understanding.”

Police say they are committed to ensuring the safety of schools and are working with local authorities and education partners as enquiries progress.
