81-year-old dies after car crashes into bungalow in Oldham

A 75-year-old is also in hospital with life-threatening injuries

An 81-year-old passenger has died after a car crashed into a bungalow in Diggle yesterday morning (8 December).

Police reported that officers responded at 9.17am after a Fiat 500 travelling generally southeast on Dorset Avenue approached the junction with Huddersfield Road.

The vehicle crossed the junction and collided with a bungalow on Huddersfield Road.

The passenger died at the scene.

The driver, aged 75, was taken to hospital where they remain in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are continuing their enquiries and are appealing for anyone with information – including anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the collision, witnessed the impact itself, or has dashcam or CCTV footage – to come forward.
