Scottish sitcom Two Doors Down is returning for a new series

Following the Christmas special in 2025, popular Scottish sitcom Two Doors Down has been renewed for a brand new series on the BBC.

Filmed in Glasgow, the upcoming new series will follow on exactly where the Christmas special left us, with all of our favourite cast members making a return.

The BBC say of the new series: 'Beth (Arabella Weir) and Eric (Alex Norton) are still clinging to the hope of a quiet life, but their best efforts are no match for the relentless chaos supplied by neighbours Colin (Jonathan Watson), Cathy (Doon Mackichan) and Christine (Elaine C Smith).

'Meanwhile, Michelle (Joy McAvoy) is preparing for the new arrival, while Gordon (Kieran Hodgson) throws himself into further education. Alan (Graeme Stevely) and Ian (Jamie Quinn) return too, doing their level best to support their partners —with mixed results.'

Writer and co-creator Gregor Sharp says: “It was a lot of fun putting the band back together for the Christmas episode last year, so I’m really excited to be coming back with some new tunes, which we hope will turn out just as special. The cast are the most talented group of performers you could wish for, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Jon Petrie, BBC Director of Comedy, added: “Eight series in, and the team are still making a world that audiences properly love spending time in. That’s no mean feat, and it’s a huge credit to the talent, care and commitment behind the show. We’re really proud to bring it back for another series.”

Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning for BBC Scotland then commented: “It’s fantastic to be returning once more to Latimer Crescent and these wonderfully written and performed characters. We know how much they are loved by audiences up and down the country and we’re delighted to be bringing it back and stepping into their lives once again.”

When is it on TV?

There's no word on a start date just yet, but it could land later this year.

Two Doors Down will air on BBC One and BBC Scotland, as well as the BBC iPlayer.

All seven series of Two Doors Down are available to watch on BBC iPlayer now.

The last full series of Two Doors Down aired back in November 2023, months after the sad passing of co-writer Simon Carlyle, at the age of 48.

Despite many thinking the show wouldn't go on, Simon's co-writer Gregor Sharp developed a one-off Christmas special, which aired last December, and now we have a new series to look forward to.
