The BBC delighted drama fans last year by announcing a third series of hit prison drama Time, featuring Scottish actor David Tennant and returning actress Siobhan Finneran.

After filming took place in Belfast earlier this year, bosses have now given a first glimpse at the hugely-anticpated new series, which is due to land on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later in the year.

Sharing a number of first look photos on Thursday 16th July, the pictures feature David Tennant as Bobby Bailey, a Custodial Manager at the Young Offender Institution (YOI), Siobhan Finneran reprising her role as chaplain Marie-Louise O’Dell, Daniel Ryan as Freddie Jennings, a Custodial Manager at the YOI, Jo Joyner as Nicola, Vinette Robinson as Erica, Louis McCartney as James, Ollie McNulty as Peter and Chukwubuikem Molokwu as Christopher.

Although series three was first announced last year, the BBC revealed more casting details as filming started in Belfast in March.

Vinette Robinson, Jo Joyner, Daniel Ryan, Warren Brown and Louis McCartney have all joined the cast, alongside previously announced David Tennant and the returning Siobhan Finneran.

Ollie McNulty and Chukwubuikem Molokwu will also be making their on-screens debuts in series three.

When is the new series out?

Although we don't know an exact release date just yet, the BBC has said series three of Time will land on BBC iPlayer and BBC One later this year.

The BBC say of the series three plot: 'Set within a Young Offenders Institution, the series will explore the impact of locking up teenagers and the effects on those who look after them.

'Prison Chaplain Marie-Louise comes to the YOI having lost her faith. When tragedy strikes within the prison, Marie-Louise clashes with veteran officer Bailey, a man in the midst of his own crisis. Bailey knows more about the circumstances that led to this major incident – but will he come clean before the guilt gets too much?

'Meanwhile, two teenage young offenders, Peter and James, struggle through the terrifying first weeks and months of their incarceration. Can James ever face his broken parents after an unforgivable act of violence and will Peter tell the truth about the death of an innocent man, or does family loyalty mean more? An unlikely friendship between them looks to shift the trajectory of their futures, but in an increasingly unstable environment, is change ever possible?'
