Following the sad death of Mel Schilling, the Married at First Sight and relationship expert, earlier this year, MAFS Australia has aired the last episode featuring Mel, and included an emotional tribute.

In the final episode of series 13 of the popular reality TV show, the couples from the show (both separated and together), joined the experts Mel, John Aiken and sexologist Alessandra Rampolla, where they gave their final thoughts on the couples throughout the show.

Then, as the show drew to a close, fans got to see a 10-minute highlights reel of Mel throughout the years, bringing a tear to many viewers' eyes.

One fan wrote on X: 'Such a shame that Mel's last season on #mafsaus - where she was battling terminal cancer whilst away from her family - involved her witnessing the worst of behaviour from women. Women who she’d battled for so valiantly over the years.

'Rest in peace Mel ❤️'.

Another commented: 'watching tonight’s #MAFS #MAFSau knowing it’s the last time we’ll have the beautiful mel schilling on our screens was heart wrenching.. the tribute at the end had me sobbing. some people just radiate human sunshine, she was one of them🌞✨

'life can be so incredibly unfair😪'.

A third wrote: 'Mel Schilling... a beautiful ray of sunshine, who will forever be loved and remembered. #MAFSAU #MAFSAustralia'.

In one of the clips, Mel was asked what sort of feelings her husband has for her, which she replied: "He might say, 'I feel deeply connected to you', he says 'I'm his soulmate', he says 'he can stop looking because he's found me...'"

News of Mel's death back in March this year was announced by her husband Gareth Brisbane to her fans, who wrote: 'Melanie Jane Brisbane-Schilling passed away peacefully today, surrounded by love.

'In her final moments, when I thought cancer had taken away her ability to speak, she ushered me closer and whispered a message for Maddie and me that will sustain me for the rest of my life. It took all of her remaining strength, and that gesture summed up our wee Melsie perfectly. Even then, her only thought was for Maddie and me.'

The sad news came after Mel was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2023. She was given the all clear after she had the tumour removed. However, a routine scan in February 2024 later discovered small nodules in her lungs.

Our thoughts are with Mel's family and friends.
