Kate Wright is planning a baby with Rio Ferdinand to 'bring the family closer'
They got married last September

Kate Wright has opened up about her plans to have a baby with husband Rio Ferdinand after their documentary aired earlier this week. The 28-year-old, who is step-mum to Rio's children Tate, Lorenz and Tia with his late wife Rebecca, appeared in a documentary alongside her family called Rio and Kate: Becoming a Stepfamily.
The documentary dealt with how the family had welcomed Kate into their lives following Rebecca's death, and the difficulties they faced. Now, Kate has said that she's thinking about having a baby with 42-year-old Rio in the hope that it will "bring the family closer together".
Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Kate said, "I think it will bring us all together, tighter, closer as a knit. It’s weird because when we’re in the house and it’s us five, I feel like their mum and I know I’m not their mum and we all feel the same. I just feel like they’re my children. It’s a normal family.
"I always thought I wanted a big family but I’d never thought think I’d get it this way. It’s just mad when I think about it. I thought I’d have a big family but with three step kids and them losing their mum I never saw it being this way."
Kate added that although she's not great with babies, the other children are quite keen for another sibling, "I said to Rio say if we have a baby when they get to five I’m going to be great. I know what I’m doing but that baby stage I don’t know. The kids talk about having a baby all the time. I said, 'Rio I’ve never changed a nappy, I’ve never had children!'"

I always write a message from me, because after all I am bringing up her children with Rio."
