Last chance for young people in North Yorkshire to share experience of sexism

Today is the final day for young people in York and North Yorkshire to participate in a survey shedding light on gender violence, sexism, and misogyny.
Launched by the York and North Yorkshire Youth Commission, the survey targets understanding challenges faced by youth and aims to inform future local responses.
Previous research indicates that many young individuals view sexism and misogyny as normalised, with catcalling and harassment posing significant concerns.
Moreover, issues such as online sexism and inappropriate social media interactions remain widespread, amplifying concerns about the impact of misogynistic content.
Emily Blavins of Leaders Unlocked highlights the survey’s importance:
"This youth-led survey will help ensure even more young voices are heard, particularly those who may not regularly engage with schools, youth organisations or other services."
Jo Coles, Deputy Mayor for Policing, Fire and Crime, urges participation:
"Every response helps to build a clearer picture of the challenges we need to address so, if you’re aged 10 to 25 please take a few minutes to have your say in their survey."
Young people aged 10 to 25 are encouraged to complete the survey before it closes today, 31st August 2026.
