Woman arrested on suspicion of arson following serious fire in North Yorkshire

No-one was injured during the incident in Knaresborough

Police have made an arrest following a serious fire in Knaresborough.

The fire service contacted police at 04.43 this morning (Tuesday 01 April 2025) to notify them about a fire at The Cricketers Pub in Calcutt.

Officers initially helped with road closures in the area.

North Yorkshire Police said:

"Following an examination of the scene by police crime scene investigators and fire investigation officers, it is now believed that the fire was started deliberately."

One woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson, she currently remains in police custody.

Thankfully no-one was injured during this incident.

Officers are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

North Yorkshire Police have said:

"The investigation is continuing, officers are urging anyone with information about this incident to contact them. Please call North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference 12250057010."
