A dog rescue centre in North Yorkshire is making a desperate plea after thieves broke into their stray kennels in the early hours of Tuesday (12 August) and stole one of their animals.

Woodhaven Second Chance in South Milford says three dogs - Bella, Asher, and Wispa - were targeted.

CCTV shows Wispa was taken but returned to her kennel, while Asher escaped and was later found injured but safe at a nearby stables.

Bella, however, is still missing.

Staff describe Bella as “our precious girl” and say she is microchipped, registered to them, spayed, and officially listed as stolen.

Police are investigating and reviewing CCTV.

They believe the thieves deliberately targeted lurchers and a terrier.

The kennels have stressed that Woodhaven Boarding Kennels was unaffected by the break-in.

They are asking anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward.

Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity near the kennels around midnight on Tuesday is urged to contact police immediately.
