Heartfelt tributes have been paid to Wyn Roberts, a 79-year-old man who tragically died in a road traffic collision near Ingleton earlier this week.

The incident occurred at 1:09pm on Tuesday, 15 April 2025, on the A65 between Whinney Mire Lane and Green Lane. Wyn, who was riding a white BMW motorbike, was involved in a collision with a Peugeot Partner panel van. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he sadly died at the scene.

Wyn’s family have described him as a “kind and caring man,” deeply committed to his community, family, and friends.

A highly skilled archer, sailor, and woodworker, he was known across the region for generously sharing his knowledge with others—mentoring young people through scouting, schools, and local projects.

“Anyone of any age could rely on Wyn’s support and expertise,” his family said. “He was a true gentleman, selfless in his outlook, and took great joy in helping others succeed.”

Wyn was also known for his love of sea fishing, motorbiking, shooting, and for his loyal spaniel, Tigger. A resident of Clapham, he played a central role in village life—always ready to lend a hand and never far from a community project or woodworking initiative.

He leaves behind his loving partner Cherry, children Sam, Joe and Jessica, stepson John, their partners, and four grandchildren.

“Wyn will be sorely missed and never forgotten,” the family added.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision. Anyone with dashcam footage or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police quoting the relevant incident log.
