A teenager remains in a serious condition a week on from the crash that killed an off duty police officer in North Yorkshire.
PC Rosie Prior had stopped to help at the scene of a collision on the A19 near Thirsk involving motorist Ryan Welford and his teenage passenger.
All three were then struck by a lorry - with PC Prior and Mr Welford suffering fatal injuries.
Chief Inspector Rob Bowles - chair of North Yorkshire Police Federation - had this message:
"North Yorkshire Police officers are truly devastated by the tragic events and our thoughts are with their family, friends and colleagues.
"I would like to sincerely thank the officers that worked so tirelessly last weekend and especially those who attended the scene of the incident. It was truly heartbreaking for them as well".
The lorry driver, a 65-year-old man from Berwick-upon-Tweed, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was later released under investigation.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision and the two-vehicle crash which happened before.
