Police appeal for key witnesses to make contact after Catterick Garrison sexual assault

A serious sexual assault which occurred in Catterick Garrison on Sunday 17 August has resulted in police appealing for four key witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened on Heatherdene Road at 7.05pm.

The victim, a teenage girl, is receiving support from specially trained officers as the investigation progresses.

Detective Chief Inspector David Ellis from North Yorkshire Police said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and following extensive enquiries, it has become clear that there are four key witnesses who were in the area at the time when this incident occurred. I must stress that we are treating these individuals as witnesses who may provide us with vital information that can assist our investigation.

“I understand that this incident will cause concern in the local community, and we will continue to increase patrols in the local area to offer reassurance. Please speak directly with a uniformed officer if you have any concerns.”
