Person rescued after falling 20 metres down cliff in Filey
Emergency service crews worked together to winch the person to safety
A person has been rescued after falling 20 metres down a cliff in Filey.
Emergency services were called out to Primrose Valley at around 11pm on Friday night (3 July) following reports someone had lost their footing on a cliff.
A fire crew from Filey, a rope rescue team from Scarborough, police officers, an ambulance and the coastguard were sent to the scene..
The coastguard attempted to use a helicopter winch but the downwash from the rotary blades proved 'unsafe'.
Line rescue equipment was used instead to winch the person to safety on a stretcher.
They were taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening.
