York City have moved quickly to appoint Stuart Maynard as their new manager.

The former Notts County and Wealdstone boss joins immediately.

He replaces Adam Hinshelwood who left the Minstermen earlier today.

The aim for the club will be promotion back to the EFL.

Stuart added, “I’m very delighted to join such an ambitious club in York City. The direction this club has taken since Matt and Julie-Anne took over aligns with my goals to make York a successful club. The foundations have been built for long-term success, and I cannot wait to get started.”

He will be joined by new assistant manager Joao Alves, who worked under Maynard at Notts County.
