A man in his 20s is being questioned by police after a hit-and-run crash that killed 19-year-old Bailey Chadwick.

Bailey had been walking home in the early hours of Sunday (20 July) when he was hit on the B6265 at Lupton Bank, between Pateley Bridge and Glasshouses.

Since then, the force have issued several appeals to find the driver, with Bailey's mother urging them "to do the right thing".

The man was arrested late last night (24 July) on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He remains in police custody.

Officers are urging people not to speculate about the case on social media, to avoid risking any future legal proceedings.

The force are still urging witnesses and anyone with more information to come forward.
